Using a Coach

Let's face it.  Most bowlers understand that there is a gap between where they are now and where they want to be.  When bowling performance falls short, you may come to a decision that you need a fresh perspective on how to enhance your performance.  Everyone has a perspective, and wants to share it.  Most observers see flaws (or what they perceive as flaws), and have ideas on how to correct your performance.  The problem is, they most often fail to correctly identify the initial point of whatever holds you back.  You need to determine how to best close that gap.

First, you need to want to make a change to your performance, and are willing to accept these inputs.  With all the casual inputs, that convinces most bowlers to refrain from seeking assistance altogether.  That is why the USBC has placed an emphasis on coaching, and has established coaching training and certification.  When seeking assistance from a USBC certified coach, you are assured you are receiving an objective, trained partner.

A USBC certified coach is a partner dedicated to your success. A coach helps you see through your blind spots and uncover patterns that are not useful, then guides you through replacing them with useful behaviors. A coach empowers you to make positive changes in your sport.

Why do top gifted athletes have coaches?   It’s because they know that if they want to learn to master something, they need a trained, objective perspective.
